Who is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
God has three distinct roles and functions as the Three Persons in the Godhead, also known as the Trinity; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is three-fold, not three dimensional like us. He does not operate in our earthly linear time and space as we do, however He does operate within it. Each Godhead is Eternal (always existent), Omnipresent (always everywhere), Omniscient (always knowing), and Omnipotent (always powerful). John 1:1 describes Jesus “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Genesis 1:1-3 states “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of waters. God is the creator of the universe and He SPOKE the world into existence in Genesis 1:26
...God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God said, "US" - referring to Jesus and the Holy Spirit who have ALWAYS been and will always be Him.
God is spirit. Jesus became flesh in the spirit. The Holy Spirit descended from heaven after Jesus ascended to heaven and lives with us here on earth. He is our Comforter and our Helper.
“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:15-20
By asking Jesus into our hearts and receiving salvation, we have direct access to the Father and a Helper for ALL things here on earth. Imagine two bluffs divided by a river far below. One side represents us. The other side represents God. There is NO WAY we can cross that divide to get to the other side. Then someone comes along and sees that we are desperately trying to figure out a way to get across and painstakingly decides to build us a bridge. Jesus is our bridge. And His motive is unconditional love. Jesus advocates to the Father on our behalf! All those in Christ are now called SAINTS! "I (Paul) am writing to God's church in Corinth, to you who have been called by God to be his saints (his own holy people) . He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours." (1 Corinthians 1:2).
And your salvation through Jesus Christ makes it possible for you to pray directly to the FATHER!
"My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous" 1 John 2:1.
If you have never been given the opportunity to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, TODAY IS YOUR DAY!!! Oh my goodness! He has been waiting for you your WHOLE life and wants to live inside your heart and LOVE YOU! Will you let him? Are you tired of feeling empty? See, the secret is God created each of us with a hole inside our hearts that can only be filled with Jesus. That's why even when we are on top of the world, see that new movie, buy that item, drink that alcohol, do that drug, or are addicted to whatever, WE ALWAYS END UP EMPTY! And God watches, and He loves you from heaven and just waits and waits for SOMEONE......to start praying for your salvation! Well, FATHER! I pray for this reader's salvation RIGHT NOW, in Jesus Name! I pray that You prepare their heart and soul to receive Jesus as their Lord and savior. I pray You would send laborers across their path to come along side them to lead them into Your amazing Kingdom of love, mercy and grace. Receive them as Your Beloved because ONLY YOU are that missing piece in their life. Bless you, Father for loving this reader. I pray the blood of Jesus over them. I pray a hedge of protection over them and their loved ones. I pray you would transform their lives from hopeless into ABUNDANT hope because of salvation. In Romans 10:19 God says that "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." So speak this prayer OUT LOUD!
Prayer of Salvation
Father I am guilty of living life on my own terms and I ask Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus is the son of God who died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead. I acknowledge that my sin has kept me separated from You Father and I am in need of the Savior. I am ready to receive Jesus' gift of salvation and start living my life the way YOU have created me to live - a life filled with purpose and hope. Come, live in my heart Jesus - I turn my life over to you now. Thank you, help me and change my life. In Jesus name, amen
